Sending lights into spiritually dark places

About Mbeya

Mbeya is a non-denominational Christian ministry that oversees a ministry college in Malawi which equips and sends out ministers for the purpose of sending good news to hard-to-reach places.

The most effective way to send good news to these hard-to-reach places is through biblically-trained local ministers who know the language and understand the culture.

At the college, in addition to Bible classes, students get training in practical life skills to help them become financially self-sustaining (business, financial management, leadership, agriculture).

As a Christian ministry, the doctrinal beliefs we adhere to can be found here: The Nicene Creed

To achieve the mission, our ministry focuses on: Prayer, Education, Evangelism, and Discipleship.

Prayer

In Malawi and throughout the U.S. monthly intercessory prayer meetings are held to pray for our ministry, students, staff, villages and ministry partners.

If you are interested in receiving information about joining one of our prayer meetings, please contact us.

Additionally, if you are interested in hosting a prayer meeting, please contact us and we will be happy to connect with you.

Education

Some students leave everything – families, jobs, villages – for the sake of being equipped at our school and sent out with the Gospel.

Each student is supported by a sponsorship team. Sponsorship provides students with a work opportunity to earn money for tuition, room, board and outreaches.

The Bible college consists of morning classes followed by afternoon practical outreaches.

In the classroom, students study the Bible from a variety of teachers (both Malawian and foreign). Biblical competency is central to the ministry. Afternoon outreaches allow students to put into practice things learned in the classroom.

Evangelism & Discipleship

Once students are equipped in the classroom, they participate in a variety of daily, weekly and quarterly outreaches to help them put into practice the things learned.

The college has a relationship with Navigators Malawi which provides discipleship training to help students establish long-term ministry relationships with people and form deeper spiritual roots.

Through the equipping and sending of local ministers, we want to see every person in Malawi – regardless of race, social class, gender, ethnicity, orientation, or religious background – have an opportunity to come in contact with the love and knowledge of Jesus Christ.

Upon graduation, some students are sent out to begin ministries of their own; others choose to stay in Zolozolo and continue ministry at the Zolozolo Bible Center.
